Assam CM leaves for Davos, to pitch state’s growth story at World Economic Forum

Guwahati: Assam is set to make history on the global economic stage as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma leaves for Davos, Switzerland, to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting from January 19 to 23. With this visit, Sarma becomes the first Assamese Chief Minister to attend the prestigious global summit, marking a significant moment in the State’s economic and diplomatic journey.

The invitation to Assam, extended by the Union government, places the State alongside some of India’s most industrially advanced regions at one of the world’s most influential platforms for dialogue on economics, development and global cooperation. Traditionally, representation at Davos from India has been dominated by leading states; Assam’s inclusion this year signals growing national and international recognition of its development trajectory.

At Davos, the Chief Minister will represent Assam among global political leaders, top economists, CEOs of multinational corporations, and heads of institutions such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and World Trade Organization.
