Railways hired 43,230 people in less than two years, says Ashwini Vaishnaw
In a reply in the Rajya Sabha, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that hiring in Indian Railways has picked up pace over the past decade, with 5.08 lakh recruitments recorded between 2014–15 and 2024–25, compared to 4.11 lakh between 2004–05 and 2013–14.
New Delhi: Indian Railways has recruited 43,230 employees so far in 2025–26, signalling continued momentum in hiring as the national transporter scales up workforce intake to meet operational and technological needs.
Responding to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the Rajya Sabha said that recruitment has accelerated over the past decade. Between 2014–15 and 2024–25, Indian Railways hired 5.08 lakh employees, compared to 4.11 lakh in the preceding decade from 2004–05 to 2013–14.
The minister said recruitment remains a continuous process aligned with the size, geographical spread and critical operations of the railways. Vacancies are........
