Borders Railway must be extended onto England, says MSP
Last week, the Public Petitions Committee considered one of the most petitioned issues of this parliamentary session: the campaign to protect the wild goats of the Langholm and Newcastleton Hills.
An astonishing 13,000 people have signed the petition already, calling for these nationally important herds to be granted full protection.
At present, wild goats in Scotland have no legal safeguards, meaning pregnant nannies and kids can be legally shot.
This is a scandal in 21st-century Scotland, particularly when species like pigeons and parakeets are protected during their breeding seasons.
