A family walking along the River Ouse in Downham Market went to investigate an undergrowth after hearing a scratching sound coming from inside a fabric carrier and discovered the feline inside.

They rushed the tabby-and-white cat to the nearby Cats Protection West Norfolk Cat Centre where he was checked over, given food and water and named River.
