Homeowner embroiled in row with council over plans to improve 'identity crisis' house

Tyler Smith had submitted a proposal to South Norfolk Council in May this year for a number of alterations to his home off Yarmouth Road in Broome, including raising the roof height.

But the bid proved to be controversial with neighbours fearing that it would result in an "unduly dominant, intrusive and visually discordant building" and would overlook their properties.

And just two months later, the council refused the application and argued that the plans would "result in severe overlooking and a significant loss of privacy" for neighbours.

Now, Mr Smith has appealed his case to the Planning Inspectorate, which oversees planning disputes.
