The lamppost, as well as debris, was sent spiralling through the air following the crash, damaging nearby homes.
Neighbours had to evacuate their houses after a gas service pipe was damaged, sparking a leak, and Cadent are at the scene.
A total of five properties were left damaged, and a teenage boy, who lives in one of the affected homes, suffered a minor head injury as a result of the impact.
He is currently in A&E.

The driver, a 41-year-old man, fled the scene, but police found him nearby after a short search.
He was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and failing to stop or report an accident.
The man was initially taken to the hospital for assessment but was then moved to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre, where he is currently being quizzed by officers.
Any witnesses are urged to contact the force quoting CAD 386 from March 11.
