Work to begin on restoring church once used to 'improve morals' of sailors
And while it is a long time since St John's Church, at the corner of York Road and Lancaster Road, was used for that purpose, there are now hopes the Grade II listed building could help improve the lives of young people in the borough.
Work will soon begin on restoring the church, with the project also providing opportunities for learning traditional skills and trades like stonemasonry and carpentry.
The building is owned by Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust (GYPT) which bought it from the Church of England in 2016 for the symbolic sum of £1.
