The incident began just after 6.30am on Sunday when a 53-year-old man living in Potters Field was confronted by a neighbour about music “blaring” from his house.

People living in the neighbourhood said the man then took out a loaded crossbow and threatened his neighbour before locking himself inside his bungalow.

Armed officers rushed to the scene and quickly surrounded the property, with specialist negotiators, drones and police dogs drafted in as the day unfolded.

The scale of the operation left neighbours shocked.

Marilyn Cooper, 77, said: “The first thing I heard was about 7am yesterday morning somebody was shouting, and then the police started coming.

"It was packed with police here. They must have had the whole Yarmouth police force here yesterday. I’d never seen so many.

"They had riot gear on, they were carrying rifles."........
