Restoration of derelict seafront attraction reaches 'crucial' milestone
The distinctive, Grade II listed building on the Golden Mile is set to become a so-called 'People's Palace', with cafes and community spaces, once its multi-million pound renovation is complete in spring 2027.
The landmark has been closed since 2008 over safety fears - but now Great Yarmouth Borough Council has announced the completion of the detailed design stage for the renovation and refurbishment.
The plans include high-quality glazing, heating and cooling systems suitable for people and plants, significant planting, rainwater harvesting, irrigation and low energy and decarbonisation plans for the UK’s last surviving Victorian glasshouse on a seaside promenade.

After a technical assessment based on design development, a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ accreditation can be achieved.
