Dr Simon Thurley, who retired as head of English Heritage in 2015 has been given listed building consent to take down the metal fence at Clifton House on Queen Street, in King's Lynn.

He said taking down the Victorian ironwork which separates the garden from a terrace at the medieval property would "improve the amenity of the garden and terrace".
