Norfolk business’ family legacy powers a greener future

PSH Environmental, originally Parkers Skip Hire, was formed in 1985 as a small, family-run skip hire business with a single lorry. Since then, it has grown into a nationally recognised waste management enterprise now in its third generation, with a strong ethos of leading by example.

The business was founded by Alan Parker, who brought years of experience in waste management, and his sons Nigel and Martyn, who both had backgrounds in mechanical engineering.

“With one skip lorry and fabrication of their own skips, it started to take off,” said Daniel Parker, Martyn’s son and a director of PSH Environmental. “Soon a piece of land was purchased and a new office and workshop was constructed – one of the first buildings on the Rackheath Industrial Estate, where we are still based.”

A major breakthrough came when PSH secured a Norfolk County Council contract to receive local authority waste, dramatically expanding the scale and scope of operations.
