New speed cameras are set to pop up on major roads across the West Midlands, officials have announced. This move is part of a broader road safety strategy supported by the police, the elected Mayor and council leaders, who plan to expand the use of average speed camera technology. Even with existing average speed cameras in the West Midlands, officials agree that the region needs more speed monitoring tech. The new cameras aim to concentrate on blackspots where there's an increased risk of fatal or severe accidents. While the exact locations for the new rollout have not yet been disclosed, it is expected that some of the busiest main roads, with higher traffic volumes and speeds, will be included.
