Fury as Jubilee woodland to be sacrificed for housing 'Coventry deserves better'
Proposals to construct self-build homes at the Keresley Jubilee Wood site have been met with opposition. In 2012, the Watery Lane woodland area was created to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee and has since been used for tree planting in the late monarch's memory. Coventry Live readers are outraged at the prospect of building on the site.
Residents and members of Keresley Parish Council collaborated on establishing the woodland in 2012 by planting saplings for it. Four years later, they planted an oak tree to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday, a site agreed upon in conjunction with Coventry City Council's Urban Forestry Officer.
