Trump’s ‘big, beautiful bill’ and America’s economic future

The No. 1 priority for the Trump administration and congressional Republicans must be passing what President Donald J. Trump has aptly described as “one big, beautiful bill”-a comprehensive economic package aimed at revitalizing the American economy. The proposed “Tax Cuts, Jobs, and Affordability Act” represents a critical opportunity to address the pressing concerns of American citizens, namely the economy, inflation, and affordability.

In recent years, economic challenges have consistently topped the list of voters’ concerns. Rising inflation, stagnant wages, and increased costs of living have left many Americans struggling to make ends meet. For the Republican Party, this economic reality presents both a challenge and an opportunity. With the 2026 midterm elections looming, a robust and transformative economic agenda is not merely a policy goal-it is a political necessity.

While issues like border security and illegal immigration remain significant, they pale in comparison to the public’s overwhelming focus on economic issues. According to recent polls, a majority of Americans identify inflation and economic insecurity as their top concerns. Addressing these issues through targeted tax cuts, job creation incentives, and measures to reduce the cost of living will resonate deeply with voters.

Moreover, the current state of the US economy-marked by rising consumer prices and uncertainty-demands swift action. Although border security measures should not be overlooked, much of the groundwork for addressing immigration can be achieved through executive action, such as stricter enforcement of existing laws. By contrast, economic reform requires legislative action and cannot be accomplished without congressional approval.

Republicans would do well to learn from the economic strategies of two pivotal figures in their party’s history: President Ronald Reagan and President Donald Trump himself. Both leaders’ economic policies offer........
