Gov. Hobbs faces Big Trouble in 2026

previous day

Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs is facing what might be the toughest reelection fight for any Democrat in the nation next year.

On Friday, the Cook Political Report listed the race as a toss-up. That seems …

Optimistic.

For Democrats, that is.

Hobbs won her 2024 race largely because her name was Katie Hobbs and not Kari Lake.

Now, disaster has struck, and Lake has moved on, leaving Hobbs to face a savvier Republican opponent, one who won’t go out of her — or his — way to insult and chase off voters.

Meanwhile, she faces a hostile Republican-run Legislature out for blood (hers) and a coming showdown with the Trump administration over the president’s vow to purge the country of undocumented immigrants.

It’s only a matter of time … as in any day now … until Trump turns his ICEy eye on Arizona, and Hobbs already has signaled that the state won’t be helping with immigration raids.

We’re not going to use state resources to go into communities and round........
