Roni’s Remedy: Not funny, not your patient, and not satisfied
One of my closest friends constantly makes jokes about me. She jokes about my eating habits, my dating life, even my insecurities. She says she’s just teasing, but sometimes it really hurts my feelings. I don’t talk about her like this so how do I tell her the jokes aren’t funny and to stop? – Not A Punchline
Not A Punchline – Wow, I am surprised you consider this person a close friend. That tells me something is going on inside you to keep company like her around. Friends don’t treat each other this way. Sure, we joke with each other and poke fun occasionally, but not all the time. We listen, love and support our friends. And the truth about this is she is insecure and most likely jealous of you. It’s like the school bully situation. Normally the bully is being bullied so they have to lash out at others. Let her know you are no longer going to tolerate being talked to like this and if she wants the friendship to be salvaged, she needs to treat you with respect and kindness. Your life is not a joke and shouldn’t be treated as such. Maybe you will get her to be honest with you........
