The Supreme Court was never meant to adhere to the fleeting political whims of one party or another. When a Supreme Court decision goes against you, the answer should not be to add more justices until you get the answer you want.

America’s Founding Fathers understood that an independent judiciary was essential to preserving our freedoms. That principle was embedded in the Constitution itself. Article III established the Supreme Court as the nation’s highest tribunal for cases and controversies arising under federal law. As the final arbiter of the law, the Court’s fundamental promise to the American people is to provide equal justice under law, independent of Congress or the White House.
