New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday (May 15) set aside the Delhi high court order suspending former Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s life sentence in the 2017 Unnao rape case, and asked the court to decide on the matter afresh.

The Delhi high court had suspended Sengar’s sentence in December 2025, leading to protests from the survivor and women’s rights activists.

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi partially allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation’s plea, and asked the Delhi high court to either decide on Sengar’s appeal against conviction within three months or pass a fresh order on the........
