New Delhi: After being denied permission at several venues, the Congress party has announced on Wednesday (October 28) that the INDIA bloc will hold a “public impeachment” of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar at party president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence on Rajaji Marg, as a warm-up event ahead of the “vote chori” rally planned for November 1 at the Ramlila Maidan. The party on Tuesday (October 27) accused Delhi Police of putting obstacles with respect to the rally preparations. 

“Having been denied other locations, the INDIA janbandhan will be holding a public impeachment of Gyanesh Kumar at 10, Rajaji Marg, New Delhi at 3.30 pm on Friday Oct 30, 2026,” Congress MP Jairam Ramesh said on X on Wednesday (October 28).

He added, “The CEC has demonstrably violated the letter and spirit of the constitution. He has systematically subverted the very foundations of our electoral democracy. He has, to put it bluntly, lied to the Supreme Court. He has been the willing executioner on behalf of the diabolical duo whose turn will come next.”
