Mayor of Arab town in north said shot and seriously hurt, alongside his deputy

Two men have been shot and wounded in the northern Arab town of Jadeidi-Makr, police say, with Hebrew media reports saying the two are the local council head and his deputy.

Police say forces are searching for the perpetrators of the suspected attempted hit.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service says medics treated one man in serious condition and one man in moderate condition, both with gunshot wounds, and that the two have been taken to Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.

Hebrew media says the council head, Suheil Milhem, is in serious and unstable condition, while the deputy mayor is moderately injured.

Israeli strike in east Lebanon kills Islamic Jihad commander, state media says

An Israeli missile strike on an apartment in eastern Lebanon has killed an Islamic Jihad commander and his 17-year-old daughter, Lebanese state media says.

Emergency workers are searching the rubble for survivors of the blast on the outskirts of the city of Baalbek, the National News Agency reports.
