Here’s the game plan to remove the anti-Israel narrative from the DSA
A lot of us pro-Israel Democrats are understandably anxious when they see DSA candidates winning primaries.
I am not and here is why:
The DSA is loud, organized, aggressive, and devious, but it will not have the votes in the next Congress to dictate America’s policy toward Israel. Even if it adds a dozen seats, it still cannot cut off support for Israel. That would require broad support in the House, passage in the Senate, and a president willing to sign it.
We still fight the remaining primaries by supporting Democrats who stand with Israel and opposing candidates who are anti-Israel.
After the primaries, we need to elect Democrats. If you are a Democrat reading this, I believe it is more important to elect the Democratic nominee in November, even if that nominee is DSA aligned, because saving democracy is the immediate priority. The answer to the DSA problem is not to hand power back to Trump. Trump is no true friend of Israel, and my next article will address that directly.
The battle is with the DSA mindset, its candidates, and its base. We need to pull them out of their anti-Israel DSA bubble.
They were drawn in by domestic issues many of us also care about: health care, housing, wages, labor rights, education, and working families. They were also drawn in by frustration that Democrats have not yet fully delivered on that agenda. The DSA exploits that frustration, ignores the long list of Democratic accomplishments we can be proud of, and then teaches that hating Israel is part of being morally serious.
That did not happen by accident.
The DSA’s current........
