Be Like Fetterman

I am on record, for more than a decade, voicing my opinions of Donald Trump the candidate, Trump 1.0 and now Trump 2.0. In case I was unclear, I will summarize: not a fan. Never was, never will be. The list of adjectives for him is too long, so I will just go with an unhinged, narcissistic liar. I don’t even think that description is up for debate. And to be clear, that was BEFORE his recent tirade against the Supreme Court for rejecting his tariff agenda and his misogynistic swipe at the U.S. Woman’s Hockey Team whom he felt obligated to “also” invite to the White House to celebrate their gold medal.

(BTW, where is the Presidential Medal of Freedom for Aerin Frankel, the women’s team’s Jewish goalie whose goals against average and save percentage, .039/.980 with three shutouts, was significantly better than Connor Hellebuyck’s 1.18/.956 with no shutouts? If Hellebuyck has been dubbed the Secretary of Defense, I say we call Frankel the Sar Ha-Bitachon – שר הביטחון – Minister of Defense.)

Now that I have that off my chest, as I have written before, those two times a day (year?) when Trump, the broken clock is correct, he should be commended for it.

So, as my favorite outfit (shorts and hoodie) wearing hero from Pennsylvania said this week after the State of the Union address, “I’ll always clap for things I agree with,” I once again applaud President Trump for his support for the State of Israel and his decision to join Israel in the attempt to finally oust the fundamentalist Islamic regime from Tehran and free the Iranian people, the region, and the world from their near 50-year reign of terror. Lest people forget, this is the regime that took 55 Americans hostage in 1979 for 444 days, whose proxy-militia Hezbollah killed 241 U.S. service members in Beirut in 1983, and who supports terrorist proxies that not only openly seek to wipe Israel from the map, but sow instability in the entire region and throughout the world.

While war is horrible and yes, people will sadly die, the alternative is worse. The countless lives both within Iran and outside killed directly, or indirectly, by this regime is equally, if not more, horrible with no signs of it ending. The Iranian regime is masterful at playing the long game and would have dragged out negotiations for months or years, if allowed, with absolutely no intention of ever halting their nuclear ambitions or terrorist activities.  So, for those upset thinking the U.S. was disingenuous for engaging this week in negotiations with Tehran while knowing all along this attack was coming, that stance was far less disingenuous than Tehran’s stance for the past 25 years claiming they had no ambitions of a nuclear weapon all while building and hiding and lying to the world.

As we sit and wait to see the long-term outcome of today’s attack, we should welcome the hopeful ouster of this regime and look forward to a day where the Iranian people are free, when the beautiful Persian culture can flourish, and when Iran no longer threatens peace and stability in the region.

So, just like me, I invite you to be like Fetterman. Even if you vehemently disagree with almost all else President Trump says or does – put on shorts, a hoodie, and applaud this President for taking this bold, hopefully future-shaping step.
