A life that crossed oceans for purpose

In memory of Sgt. Moshe Yitzchak Hacohen Katz

There are losses that feel distant. And then there are losses that hit you in the chest.

This one is personal.

Sgt. Moshe Yitzchak Hacohen Katz, a 22 year old from New Haven, was killed in combat while serving in the Israel Defense Forces. He was not just another name in a headline. He was from my home state. From the same soil, the same streets, the same quiet American neighborhoods where life is supposed to unfold in safety, not end on a battlefield thousands of miles away.

And yet, that is exactly where his journey led him.

From Connecticut to the front lines

Moshe did not inherit war. He chose responsibility.

He grew up in Connecticut, surrounded by the promise of a normal American life. College, career, family, stability. The path was there. Clear. Predictable.

But something inside him refused that........
