Dearest Kith & Kin: Looking over our history during the most ‘recent’ long & tiring Galut (exile – diaspora – captivity), including our many miscellaneous ‘positions’ in the service of respective governments, our tireless vicarious attempts at charitable social-welfare outreach, the countless uprisings against us by the general population (particularly during their times of economic depression), and the almost countless expulsions (official & unofficial) wherein we were further uprooted from home, livelihood, and our thriving Torah & Community infrastructure institutions → by “virtue” of the greed & jealousy of local officialdom & aristocracy ⇒ PERHAPS it behooves us to pay attention to An Incident that occurred to our ancestors (and thus to us) in Ancient Egypt; and finally – at least to learn from it – how we may better ‘survive our successes’ among the non-indigenous nations → where we have primarily been dispersed? The Incident: Yosef interprets Pharaoh’s dreams, and explains how to traverse the impending seven years of famine by accumulation from the forthcoming seven years of abundance. Pharaoh accepts the interpretation, accepts Yosef’s proposed economic strategy, and appoints Yosef as Master Administrator – in charge of implementing the accumulation of abundance -and- the subsequent disbursal thereof. 

Why did Pharaoh appoint Yosef?

Pharaoh (after all) was raised in the best traditions of political ‘sensitivity’, and did not want to do anything that might jeopardize his wealth, status, or position; nor the comfortable lives of the establishment, aristocracy, priests, or the other privileged classes. Accordingly, IF the interpretation of Yosef is false, THEN Pharaoh gains the wealth from Yosef’s new abundance taxation -and- Yosef will be pointed to as the economic villain of the society. Likewise, IF the interpretation of Yosef proves correct, THEN (as in fact happened) Administrator Yosef’s ‘system’ elevates Pharaoh to become the lord-master & owner of virtually the entire Egyptian population, who have sold themselves into slavery (in perpetuity) in exchange for the stored grain sustenance – Which Was Originally Theirs during the years of abundance, -and- (of course) Yosef will be pointed to as the economic villain of the society. 

Thus, according to all possibilities, the Wealth, Status, and Power of Pharaoh increases, while the Hatred, Animosity, and (latent) Anger at Yosef and his family (us) will become Rabid, Visceral, and (intimately) Barbaric.

Simply, learning from this early Galut episode, we should be careful NOT to participate in any change to the workings of respective governmental administrations of our sojourning, NOT to interfere in any aspect of the local norms of economics nor of lifestyle; Lest we incur the eventual wrath of the populous ⇒ with the politically endorsed sanctions of the (always Taxing, Profiting, and Expropriating) governmental establishment! 

Looking at our own interaction with non-indigenous cultures – over the millennium, have we ever actually enjoyed a long term benefit from our “interpretations” of their future? Better for us (and for everyone) if we restrict our “suggestions” to only strengthening the Noahide Laws; since the general population (and their administrative hierarchy) shall always view us as eating from their bread → regardless of whether we have found economic success dwelling among them -or- whether we have barely eked out our meager existence among them.

More importantly, let us pay close attention to their observance of the Noahide laws; since their laxity should be a sign to us to be in constant readiness to migrate elsewhere; or to be forced through the trials of either physical-or-cultural extermination or emergency escape to repetition of the same mistaken patterns of sovereignty-support & altruistic-outreach (somewhere – anywhere) elsewhere. Another (more recent) Example: Focusing on Jewish Outreach (Altruism), there are Two Distinct REASONS why we should NOT be shocked by the world’s indifference to the GAZA (ELECTED) Hamas-led & civilian-supported → 7 October 2023 invasion into Israel -and- Pogrom: including the 1200 Jews murdered, countless rapes, endless tortures, unspeakable atrocities, (initial) 3,000-5,000 rockets from Gaza onto Israel civilian areas, and more than 5000 rockets thereafter → 2023’s subsequent 3 months!

Reason #1 – Comparing the genetic diversity of isolated populations to their historic ‘encounters’ with Traversing armies & Colonial administrations highlights the international prevalence of institutionalized Rape ‘cultures’. Likewise (not just) Looting, Plunder, & Pillage – (but generally) Murders, Tortures, & Atrocities explicitly characterize the conduct of most invading armies; be they Greek, Roman, Mongol, Crusader, Califate, EVERY European Colonizing Nation, WWI, WWII, etc.; or just take a moment to consider (a few) RECENT Mass Murders – Authorized by Stalin (>9M), Hitler (>7M), Mao Zedong(>4M), Pol Pot (>2M),  Talaat Pasha (>1M), etc. Simply stated, Jews and individuals who keep the Noahide Laws are shocked by such psychotic barbarism – while MOST people are either indifferent to or vicarious advocates of episodic violent anti-humanism ⇒ as NORMAL.

Reason #2 – Most modern non-indigenous populations barely have any innate concern for the plight of their fellow ‘anonymous’ nationals; exemplified by prevalent homelessness, street crime, poverty, malnutrition, drug addiction, alcoholism, etc. Moreover, their longstanding ‘charitable’ organizations tend to reflexively appreciate The Organization’s economic survival as much more important than anything in their Official Altruistic Mission Statement. THUS – in light of futile ineffective impotent Jewish-Outreach philanthropy, altruism, and history (during this prolonged Beit HaMikdash desecration exile) – Fixing the World has proven fruitless When Actualized via Organization, Endowments, and Rhetoric – SINCE the only way to Fix the World (that is ready to morally & ethically improve) is by personal example ⇒ being righteous, pursuing justice, respecting domestic tranquility, appreciating spouse, honoring parents, and educating children. 

Moving from private NGO social welfare ‘corporations’ to international affairs ⇒ RECALL the ‘international agreement’ between Israel and the Philistines (colonizing ‘Sea Peoples’) → each would send out their strongest warrior -and- the nation of the looser would become slaves to the nation of the winner → except when David killed Goliath – the Philistines ran away (while Israel would have kept the agreement IF things had turned out otherwise) ⇒ same thing with Oslo and All other so-called agreements with the Philistines (of today) – SO – Best to keep this ‘tradition’ in mind before even thinking about how to act, proceed, or ‘negotiate’.

IN This Instant NOW: I am living in central Jerusalem, sleeping on a couch in my front room – so that I can get up upon hearing any emergency siren, put on shoes & coat, carefully walk across the street, and down 102 steps into the nearest public bomb shelter; then/there wondering what I may find above – after the ‘all clear’. My apartment was built in about 1904 – when there was no concrete – so the stone faced exterior walls were filled with damp dirt, gravel, and lime – then covered with a thick coating of hard plaster → thus the construction does not include any structural safe-room whatsoever. Besides the phone app alerts, the subsequent sirens, and cautious ‘dashes’ to the bomb shelter → I frequently hear Thunderous Exploding missile interceptions (or worse) coming from every direction. Missile bombardments from Iran are raining down on populated civilian areas – all over the country – at random hours – by day and by night; also upon the north from Lebanon/Hezbollah. Now, after 2 weeks of this, Iran is firing cluster munitions; which remain lethally disbursed – even after projectile interception; of course, (to use, develop, produce, acquire, stockpile, etc.) cluster bombs  is illegal by international ‘conventions’ ⇒ yet NOT openly vilified by any ‘civilized’ nation → just like the post Gaza invasion/pogrom silence, etc. Furthermore, it will not be completely unexpected if Iran should begin firing missiles with even more lethal payload ‘ammunitions’ → thus, I am uploading this under fire – with G?D?’s blessings to (perhaps) eventually survive & prosper.

Amazingly: LIFE here seems to be actively trying to return to normalcy. Ultra-religious or Ultra-secular – We Jews choose Life! Ultimately: Parents understand a special love that​​ awakens & matures from when they have their first child – since that child chose them to become parents.
