By every measure of his long military service and his years in both the House and Senate, Senator Lindsey Graham was eligible for burial on the sacred grounds of Arlington National Cemetery. Yet the South Carolina son chose differently. He returned home to Central, South Carolina to rest beside his parents in Mount Zion Cemetery, in the soil that shaped him long before Washington and the world ever knew his name.

On July 27th and 28th, in Washington, D.C. and Columbia, S.C. mourners in the two capitols offered their final respects to the U.S. Army Colonel and Senator. Every tribute, every tear, every hand that gently touched the flag- draped casket or saluted the caisson, honored the leader who devoted himself so fully to our United States. However, Lindsey Graham spoke once more through the decision he made before his passing. He chose not the grandeur of Arlington, but the friendly streets of the small town where he grew up.
