Unless you’re the parent or grandparent of a little chatterbox, you’ve probably gotten resigned to the two stereotypical terse reactions to the innocent icebreaker question, “How was school today?” (i.e. “Okay” and “You actually pay property tax to support that place? Loo-ZER”).

Amy Schwartz’s posthumously published children’s book “100 Things I Love About School” takes a more joyous, more expansive approach.

(Of course, there is a booming market for books with numbers in the title, like “C Things I Love About Roman Numerals,” “100 Pointless, Invasive Medical Tests You Must Experience Before You Die,” “Three Quarters of A Thing I Love About ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy,’” “100 Things I’ve Forgotten and Left Behind in Motel Rooms and I Wish One of Them in Particular Would Go Ahead and Sign the........
