Q: My husband works really hard for our family. He’s gone for two weeks at a time and home for one, and while his base wage isn’t especially high, his overtime combined with my income lets us get by pretty well. The problem is that his job is really wearing him down, both physically and emotionally. We’re now considering whether he should accept a local job with a more predictable schedule that’s also easier on him physically. He’d be home every night, which honestly sounds amazing, but our household income would drop by about $2,500 a month. That would probably mean pulling our kids out of most of their activities. I could take on some more work, but not nearly enough to make up the difference. How do we decide what the right trade-off is for our family? ~Erin
