Andy Burnham has officially been sworn in as the new Labour MP for Makerfield just hours after Keir Starmer's resignation today.

Following his by-election victory, Burnham immediately confirmed his candidacy to succeed Starmer, entering the race as the heavy favourite to become the next Prime Minister.
