Europe’s heat crisis threatens EU economic growth in 2026: Which countries are worst hit?
Climate change like the sword of Damocles is hanging low on Europe. Besides human lives, the EU economic growth is at high risk.
According to Dutch bank Triodos’ report, the extreme heat crisis and drought conditions affecting the large swathes of Europe this summer could wipe out as much of the economic growth.
As per the bank’s estimation, the heat-related crises could obliterate around 1 percent of the European Union’s GDP, translating into roughly €180 billion ($208 billion) in economic losses.
