The funds will support the development of 50 early operational capability missiles, and the Navy could buy more if it’s satisfied.

The US Navy is committing millions of dollars to get hypersonic missiles sooner. Earlier this week, the Navy awarded Castelion nearly $90 million to accelerate production of the Blackbeard hypersonic missile. The contract award is part of the US military’s wider effort to expand critical munition production to meet current and future threats.
