In late March and early April, Ukrainian forces launched a series of audacious strikes inside Russia, damaging and destroying multiple fighter jets and energy targets.

Ukraine and Russia remain entangled in a bloody fight more than four years after Russia launched its invasion in February 2022.

The situation on the ground today is relatively stable along the line of contact in eastern and southern Ukraine. The Ukrainian forces have halted Russia’s advances and launched frequent, limited counterattacks, but the territory changing hands has been minimal for most of 2025 and 2026. Instead, the conflict is increasingly shifting toward a war of attrition around long-range strikes.
