A fierce four-week war between the US-Israel and Iran led to the first round of talks between the warring parties in Islamabad on April 11, which set the stage for another meaningful round expected soon. The talks took place after almost a month of US-Israel aggression against Iran, which, according to some analysts, was turning into a religious and civilisational war, where Trump invoked Christian scriptures as a justification for his aggression, while Iran appeared to defend the mosaic of Islamic civilisation and its nearly 4,000 years of history. During this time, President Trump announced victory multiple times and simultaneously threatened to bomb Iran “back to the Stone Age” and eliminate its civilisation — rhetoric full of confusion and contradictions. Such extreme utterances shocked the world and even his own countrymen. This offensive language at the time of the spiritual celebration of Easter upset US lawmakers, reflected in Senator Bernie Sanders’ statement: “these are the ravings of a dangerous and mentally unbalanced individual. Congress has to act NOW to end this war. Trump and Netanyahu started this war. Now they must end it”. On the other hand, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor, once a staunch Trump ally, took exception to Trump’s language and expressed that “everyone in his administration that claims to be Christian needs to fall on their knees and beg forgiveness from God and stop worshipping the President and intervene in Trump’s madness.” She further posted on X: “Our president is not Christian, and his words and actions should not be supported by Christians”. Trump also picked a fight with Pope Leo........
