India’s space college broke its bond with ISRO. Not its dependence
Gaurav Seth, founder and CEO of Piersight, thought he had found an effective way to recruit from the Indian Institute of Space Sciences and Technology (IIST).
Students at IIST have to undertake a six-month industry project as part of their final semester, and Seth offered them the opportunity to develop synthetic aperture radar systems for maritime surveillance at his company. They’d be given a monthly stipend of Rs 25,000, along with the possibility of pre-placement offers for strong performers.
