Intl Academic Achievement Survey: Japan’s High Global Ranking is No Reason to Let Its Guard down

The academic achievement of Japanese children is high by international standards, but there are still several issues to be addressed. It is hoped that the government will work on improvements without becoming complacent and strive to further enhance their academic performance.
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development has released the results of the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), which surveyed a total of about 760,000 15-year-olds in 91 countries and regions last year. This was the first such survey in three years, and about 6,500 first-year students from 183 high schools in Japan participated.
