Watch live: Hegseth, Caine give update on US military operation in Iran

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Gen. Dan Caine will speak to reporters Thursday morning to provide an update on the U.S. military operation in Iran.

While President Trump has signaled that Operation Epic Fury has weakened Tehran both economically and militarily, he has stopped short of taking a victory lap. Instead, the Trump administration has not given a clear answer on the imminent threat Iran posed ahead of the initial Feb. 28 strikes or a timeline on when the operation would end.

Senate Republicans late Wednesday defeated a Democratic-sponsored motion to advance a war powers resolution to halt more attacks on Iran — a conflict that has caused oil and gas prices to soar. Trump has pressured allies to assist with policing vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, but with little response.

Their remarks also come after Iran launched retaliatory strikes overnight on energy infrastructure in neighboring Gulf states.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. EDT.
