Live updates: Iran reveals demands Trump rejected; 17 US cruise ship passengers return

Iranian state media shed light on its negotiating team’s latest demands in talks with the U.S., which President Trump roundly rejected on Sunday.

Iran demanded war reparations, Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. sanctions ending, along with the return of frozen assets, according to reports.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said decisions on how to move forward with Iran’s nuclear program would be settled when “the time is right.”

The U.S. wants Iran to drop its claims over the Strait of Hormuz and make firm commitments to end its nuclear program as part of any initial agreement.
