Live results: Illinois House primaries

Five Illinois Democrats are retiring from the House in 2026, with candidates duking it out for the party’s nod in primary elections on Tuesday.

Democratic Reps. Jan Schakowsky, Robin Kelly, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Jesus “Chuy” Garcia and Danny Davis are leaving Congress. Both Kelly and Krishnamoorthi are vying to replace retiring Sen. Dick Durbin (D) this fall.

Over a dozen Democratic candidates will compete to succeed Schakowsky, including Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss, influencer Kat Abughazaleh and state Sen. Laura Fine, in the 9th Congressional District.

In the 8th Congressional District, former Rep. Melissa Bean is looking to win back her seat left open by Krishnamoorthi.

And, with Davis retiring after nearly three decades of service, a crowded field is competing for the Democratic nod in the 7th Congressional District. In the 2nd Congressional District, former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. is looking to replace Kelly, alongside an abundance of other Democratic candidates.

Democratic incumbents seeking reelection include Reps. Jonathan Jackson of the 1st Congressional District, Delia Ramirez of the 3rd Congressional District, Mike Quigley of the 5th Congressional District, Sean Casten of the 6th Congressional District, Brad Schneider of the 10th Congressional District, Bill Foster of the 11th Congressional District, Nikki Budzinski of the 13th Congressional District, Lauren Underwood of the 14th Congressional District and Eric Sorensen of the 17th Congressional district.

GOP lawmakers running Tuesday include Reps. Mike Bost of the 12th Congressional District, Mary Miller of the 15th Congressional District and Darin LaHood of the 16th Congressional District.
