Trump administration offers $10M reward for information on Iranian leaders
The Trump administration is offering a $10 million reward for information on Iranian leaders amid the U.S. conflict in the country.
The State Department, via its Rewards for Justice division, says it is putting up a reward stretching up to $10 million “for information on the key leaders of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its component branches.”
“The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), part of Iran’s official military, plays a central role in Iran’s use of terrorism as a key tool of Iranian statecraft,” a notice on the reward reads.
Among the individuals listed is the new Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the former leader. Other people listed include Ali Larijani, the country’s national security chief as well as Ali Asghar Hejazi, who served as the chief of staff to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei before his death earlier this month.
The Rewards for Justice notice also states that any possible informants could be eligible for “relocation.”
Over 2,000 people have been killed in the Middle East since the U.S. launched joint strikes alongside Israel in Iran late last month. The strikes targeted Iranian missile and nuclear capabilities, as well as the late Ali Khamenei’s compound.
On Friday, President Trump said Iran was “totally defeated” and “wants a deal” with the U.S.
“The Fake News Media hates to report how well the United States Military has done against Iran, which is totally defeated and wants a deal – But not a deal that I would accept!” Trump said on Truth Social.
The U.S. on Friday launched what the president referred to as “one of the most powerful bombing raids in the History of the Middle East, and totally obliterated every MILITARY target in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island.”
