Graham: Trump ‘willing to do a deal’ that would ‘allow’ Iran ‘exist under certain conditions’

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Wednesday said President Trump expressed a willingness “to do a deal” that would “allow” Iran “to exist under certain conditions” in his evening address on the conflict against the Middle Eastern country.

“And how does this movie end? Here’s what President Trump said tonight, if you’re in Iran, you better be listening: ‘I’m willing to do a deal to make sure you don’t become the largest state sponsor of terrorism again. I’m willing to do a deal that will allow you to exist under certain conditions. You have to change your behavior. But if you don’t do a deal, I’m going to decimate your ability to come back economically,’” Graham told Fox News’s Sean Hannity on his show, following the president’s Wednesday speech.

“President Trump outlined targets that would destroy the ability of this regime to survive over time,” he added. “If you don’t take this deal, we’re going to blow up all the things that you need to come back.”

On Wednesday evening, Trump delivered a primetime address about the U.S.-Israeli conflict against Iran a little over a month after the fighting began. In his remarks, the president warned of decimating Iranian energy infrastructure if leaders in the Middle Eastern country do not accept a peace deal within the coming weeks.

“I can say tonight we are on track to complete all of America’s military objectives shortly, very shortly,” Trump said in the address.

“We’re going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks; we’re going to bring them back to the stone ages where they belong,” he continued. “In the meantime, discussions are ongoing.”

The U.S. conflict against Iran has not polled well with Americans, with 66 percent in a new CNN poll saying they disapproved of the military operations in the country.
