Swalwell admits to ‘physical relations’ with Chinese spy in newly released documents

Former Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) told FBI investigators that he had physical relations with a suspected Chinese spy, according to newly declassified documents released by the White House Transparency Task Force on Monday.

Swalwell, who exited Congress in April, told the FBI in 2015 that he met a woman named Christine Fang — the suspected spy — in 2012 at an event recognizing the Chinese American community, the documents note. He had “physical relations with Fang on a handful of occasions, but never dated her or had a romantic relationship.”

The FBI investigated whether Fang made illegal campaign contributions in exchange for internships in Swalwell’s offices between 2014 and 2017.

The probe found no evidence of a “quid pro quo” exchange between Fang and Swalwell or his office, but determined she did violate other........
