Becerra presses TV reporter: ‘This is not a gotcha piece, right?’

A recent televised interview with former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra (D) about his campaign for California governor got off to a rocky start when the former state attorney general immediately questioned the intentions of the sit-down.  

“By the way, this is a profile piece, this is not a gotcha piece, right?” Becerra asked Nexstar affiliate KTLA’s Annie Rose Ramos immediately, as cameras were rolling.  

“Well, look, I think these questions are fair,” Ramos replied, sitting across from him. “It’s in order to learn about you as a candidate.”

“So long it’s about the profile,” Becerra said back.

“I don’t know how you define profile,” the journalist answered, trying to move forward with the interview.

“The way I describe profile is you talk about all the things that I’ve done, things I want to do, and along with some tough questions, but not only tough questions,” Becerra said, before Ramos transitioned the conversation to his plan to tackle homelessness in the........
