Slotkin says she’d consider 2028 presidential bid

Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) declined to rule out a presidential run in 2028 but said she’s focused on helping Democrats win the midterm elections this November.

“I’m not so arrogant as to think it has to be me,” Slotkin told the Des Moines Register, when asked whether she is considering running for president in two years.

“Midterms is what I’m focused on right now, but if it comes to the point afterwards that I think there’s not anyone else who’s on the right path, I guess I wouldn’t say no forever,” she continued.

Slotkin spoke to the Iowa newspaper this week during a visit to the Hawkeye State, where national Democrats have targeted Iowa’s 1st and 3rd Congressional Districts ahead of November’s midterms. The state will also see two open races for U.S. Senate and governor, after Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) declined to run for........
