UAE condemns Iranian statements about ‘military solution to a political crisis’

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday condemned Iran’s statements warning against a “military solution” as talks with the U.S. to end hostilities in the Middle East “progress.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote on the social platform X earlier in the day that recent events in the Strait of Hormuz “make clear that there’s no military solution to a political crisis.”

Araghchi was cautioning the U.S. against its “Project Freedom” defense strategy to keep vessels safe from missile attacks while traversing through the Strait of Hormuz under U.S. protection. He called it “Project Deadlock.”

The UAE’s foreign affairs office reaffirmed in a statement “its categorical rejection of any allegations of threats targeting its sovereignty, national security, or independent decision-making.”
