Sanders dismisses Rahm Emanuel’s warning that ‘Bernie Bros’ could ‘spoil’ Democrats in the midterms

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Sunday dismissed former U.S. Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel’s warning written in the Wall Street Journal that “Bernie Bros” could “spoil” the Democratic Party’s chances in the midterm elections.

“There is a strong division within the Democratic Party,” Sanders told “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan on CBS News. “You have an establishment like Rahm Emanuel, who are dependent on billionaire campaign contributions to want to maintain the status quo. Then you have a progressive movement which, by the way, what is getting these guys there is that we are winning all over this country.”

Sanders added that voters “are sick and tired of the Rahm Emanuels, and the Democratic establishment, and the Republican establishment. They are asking simple questions, Margaret.” The Vermont independent pointed to high healthcare costs in the U.S. compared to Canada and Europe.
