Homan: ICE detainees on hunger strike will be force-fed ‘if it gets bad enough’

White House border czar Tom Homan on Tuesday said migrants in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainment engaging in hunger strikes will be force-fed food “if it gets bad enough.”

Homan addressed the issue in an interview with Fox News’s Laura Ingraham, referring to the detained migrants striking over poor conditions at the Delaney Hall facility in Newark, N.J.

“Look, I have done this since 1984,” he told Ingraham. “Hunger strikes never work. We are not going to change what we do because someone goes on a hunger strike.”

“And matter of fact, if it gets bad enough and the prisoners feel like they’re putting themselves in extreme danger, medical danger, then we’ll force-feed them,” Homan continued. “We will get a court order and force-feed them.”

The border czar added that hunger strikes will not lead to people being released from federal custody, and that ICE will “continue to arrest people.
