Anthropic adding computing capacity from Musk’s SpaceX
Elon Musk’s SpaceX has signed a deal to provide computing capability for Anthropic as the demand ramps up for the artificial intelligence firm’s products.
In an announcement Wednesday, the companies said Musk’s firm will allow Anthropic to use all of the compute power through its Colossus 1 data center, which houses over 220,000 Nvidia GPUs. The computing resources will improve capacity for users of Anthropic’s Claude Pro and Claude Max, both of which saw a spike in downloads over the past year.
“The cluster delivers extreme parallel performance for large language models, multimodal system, scientific simulation, and generative AI at frontier scale,” SpaceX, which recently acquired Musk’s AI firm xAI and is now called SpaceXAI, said in a statement.
