FOR INSIDERS | Trump: Sikorsky paying $6M for new White House helipad

President Trump said Monday that the cost of the new White House helipad is being covered by Sikorsky Aircraft, the company that manufactures the helicopters used as Marine One.

The president said the helipad was needed because the new Sikorsky helicopters are so powerful that they can rip out the grass on the White House’s South Lawn.

“Sikorsky is paying for it, you know why? Because they didn’t tell us how powerful these helicopters were and they felt a little bit guilty,” Trump said in the Oval Office.

Trump said the cost of the helipad will be about $6 million.

“They’re paying the full cost, and when I heard they were paying the cost, I went out and said, ‘Let’s do a beauty. Let’s not just do a piece of concrete and paint it white,’” he said, adding that the helipad will have the seal of the........
