Megyn Kelly, New York Post call out Trump over IRS slush fund, ‘corruption’

You know the optics are pretty bad when even the people usually defending President Trump are starting to ring the alarm.  

The conservative-leaning New York Post, a paper that has largely backed Trump over the years, is now openly calling on him to “hit the reset button” over what it describes as mounting ethical concerns surrounding his administration.  

The Post editorial pointed to several issues piling up at once: a controversial Trump Justice Department settlement tied to an IRS lawsuit, a proposed $1.7 billion “anti-weaponization fund” paid for by taxpayers, and reports that Trump’s personal fortune has ballooned from roughly $2.4 billion to $6.3 billion since returning to office.  

The editorial wrote: “Team Trump is doing a lot of good, but overshadowing those achievements right now are some ugly optics and confusing-or-worse communications. No two ways about it: The Trump Justice Department settlement of the Trump IRS lawsuit looks terrible.”
