(KTLA) -- Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton, whose career spanned more than five decades and included iconic roles in "The Godfather," "Annie Hall" and "Father of the Bride," has died in California at age 79, according to reports.

A family spokesperson confirmed her death to People and said loved ones have asked for privacy. Further details were not immediately available.

Keaton rose to fame in the 1970s with her portrayal of Kay Adams in "The Godfather" trilogy and later earned an Academy Award for Best Actress in Woody Allen’s "Annie Hall." Known for her distinct voice, wit and signature menswear-inspired style, she became one of Hollywood’s most recognizable leading women.
