Colbert releases Pope Leo diss track toward Trump inspired by Kendrick Lamar

Stephen Colbert, the host of CBS’ “The Late Show,” released on Friday a Kendrick Lamar-inspired diss track against President Trump that included a depiction of Pope Leo XIV.

The diss track, called “They not pious” and set to Kendrick Lamar’s 2024 song of the year “They Not Like Us,” makes fun of Trump’s age, his connection to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and depicts the pope dissing his approach to religion.

The song and video came amid an ongoing feud between the president and the American-born pope following the pope’s public condemnation of Trump’s war in Iran.

“I’m the Holy See, you’re the holy senile,” the Colbert song says.

“How many mentions of you in the Epstein files? Certified bestie with that certified pedophile.”

“Seems like it’s past you retired. Call Jesus a doctor and it’s probably Alzheimer’s “

“Stephen Colbert is a pathetic trainwreck with no talent and terrible ratings, which is exactly why CBS canceled his show and is booting him off the airwaves,” White House spokesperson Davis Ingle said in a statement.

Colbert’s show will wrap up in May after the network announced they were canceling it for financial reasons last July.  Paramount, CBS’ parent company, is in the process of merging with entertainment company Skydance, a move that required approval by the Federal Communications Commission.

“God does not bless any conflict,” the pope posted on the social platform X on April 10. “Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs.”

“Woe to those who manipulate religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic, and political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth,” the pope repeated on Thursday in Cameroon where he was advocating for an end to that nation’s civil war. The comment also appeared to be a veiled swipe at the president.

In response Trump has called the pope “weak on crime” and claimed the conclave only elected him because he was the “best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump.” He also posted an AI-generated image that depicted himself as a Jesus-like figure which he later took down after bipartisan backlash.

His comments have sunk his approval rating among Catholic voters in recent weeks. Others have suggested his targeting of the pope is an indication of cognitive decline.

“I have a right to disagree with the pope,” Trump said on Thursday, rejecting any idea that he would meet with the pope to come to a resolution. “I have no disagreement with the fact the pope can say what he wants, and I want him to say what he wants, but I can disagree.”
